Church Ministries

The First Baptist Church is a hospitable, mission-minded church reaching out within the community and beyond.  The congregation generously supports a variety of ministries including missions of the American Baptist Churches and Church World Service.

Pastor Jim King attends to spiritual and pastoral care as well as personal counseling. He performs weddings at the church, visits members of the church, shut-ins and the sick and performs funerals.

 Caring
 Noon Bible Study every Wednesday.
Food Pantry, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, toys for children.Funds for the needy in emergencies.Support for Ocean County Hunger Relief, ABC Missions aiding victims of disaster, hunger, building schools and hospitals. Keep in touch with the whole church family by visits, phone and weekly 
correspondence.

 

 

Healing
 Parish Nursing, Ginny Horner, RN, & Lorraine Vitello, RN, our Parish Nurses, do regular blood pressure and stroke screenings, seminars. Prayer Chain, & Support Groups.

 Hospitality
 Interfaith Hospitality Network, a shelter to homeless families in Ocean County has our support; our children give school supplies.
Habitat for Humanity builds affordable housing for families.  Host to AA meetings,  voting polls, receptions, & celebrations.

 

 

Advocating
 Domestic violence awareness for the community with public forums.  We support Providence House and Dottie's House, who provide safe housing, life and legal counsel.
Advocating for all children

 Music
Our Choir sings from a spirited, diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary music, taught and directed by Gary Cuccurullo.  Rehearsal is Wednesday evenings.  Special concerts and Cantatas with other musicians are part of an 
expanding music ministry.

We participate in ecumenical and interfaith events.  We are a member of 
NJ Council of Churches.
